Setting up Sonar Assistant on macOS

Install the application and grant the necessary permissions once. After that, Sonar Assistant will be ready for meetings.

  1. Install the application

    Open the downloaded DMG file and drag Sonar Assistant to the Applications folder.

  2. Make the first launch attempt

    Open Sonar Assistant from the Applications folder. In the macOS warning, click Done. Do not move the application to the Trash.

  3. Open security settings

    Click the button below. macOS will open the Privacy & Security section in System Settings.

  4. Allow application launch

    In the Security section, click Open Anyway next to the message about Sonar Assistant. If an additional warning appears, confirm the launch again by clicking Open Anyway.

  5. Set up access in Sonar Assistant

    After launching the application, find the "Prepare Sonar Assistant for meetings" panel and click "Set up access".

  6. Allow microphone access

    In the system prompt for microphone access, click Allow.

  7. Allow recording system audio

    In the next prompt, click Allow. System audio is needed to recognize the interlocutor's speech during the call.

  8. Open screen recording settings

    When macOS asks for screen recording access, click Open System Settings.

  9. Enable both permissions

    In the Screen & System Audio Recording section, enable Sonar Assistant in the lists Screen & System Audio Recording and System Audio Recording Only.

  10. Restart the application

    When macOS prompts you to apply changes, click Quit & Reopen. Sonar Assistant will close and reopen automatically.

Done. Sonar Assistant is ready to use.

You can now open the app and start your first meeting.
